Bookish Ramblings # 8: Mid-Year Update

Hello Everyone, So, the middle of the year has come and gone, so I thought that I'd give you an update of the things that I've done this year. This will mostly be a bookish post, though I will be including some other things as well. I've had some motivational/inspirational highs and dips this year. Sometimes I reckon it's from this constant mindset of where I seem to be on the go all the time - and that can get quite exhausting at times.  June was where I managed to create a little bit of downtime for myself, especially for things that I needed to catch up on, or just get around to doing.  Which leads me to the next things that I only got to in June: Even though I had been doing some leisure reading throughout the year, I managed to get more than usual done in June - and that's because I tried to keep my review schedule to a minimum.  Another thing I also only got to in June - is doing some non-fiction Christian reading. Yes, you read right: I only ...

2 Year Anniversary

Hello Everyone, Wow! I can't believe that it's been two years already!  It's wonderful how things have slowly evolved and changed - and it's been awesome how I've started my new self-employed journey and I intend on exploring new and exciting things this year. It also means that I have more time on my hands to read - which I am thrilled about!  Anyways - one thing I do want to say: Thank you to everyone who has followed my blogging journey so far - I really appreciate all the support that I get; and I hope that you will continue with me on the next leg of my journey.  Which brings me to the next topic. For those that have been following me; you have seen that I've been reading and reviewing a little bit more, as well as taking on more things like cover reveals and blog tours. There's some other bookish things that I'm going to be tackling this year; and I'm really excited for them! For those that are new - welcome! I've now g...

Bookish Ramblings # 5 - Review Teams

Hello Everyone, I've become part of review teams for the past few months; and it's quite interesting being a part of them. At this point in time, I'm part of 4 teams at the moment. Be sure that at times I am tempted to load more on my plate and join another one or two - but I'm resisting it - for now!  These teams usually involve some behind-the-scenes, updates as well as some ARC copies sometimes. These can be nice reader communities to get into as well as getting to know other fans from the author whose review team group you are in.  Some review teams are done via newsletters; and then there are some that are done via facebook. At this point in time; I am part of both. The newsletter ones are usually emails that are sent to you - in other words - you unfortunately don't have contact with other fans; and then with regards to the facebook groups - these are usually closed groups, and are only accessible if you're invited to the group. These are nice for ...

Bookish Ramblings # 4 - Workstation

Image
Hello Everyone, As most (if not all) bloggers know, you need a good desk to sit at if you want to do blogging. Until the middle of this year, I sat on my bed and did my online stuff (internet surfing); and it was comfortable. It was only a while after my sister had moved out of her room into her own place that I decided to take over her room for my new workstation.  My new workstation, whoopie! The room didn't look very neat (curtains need to be changed, walls need to be repainted, floor's carpets need to get torn out and replaced with tile), but it was fine for the time being until I could make changes to it. The changes happened very slowly.  I wanted to get curtains in July, but that unfortunately never happened. Though, I did manage to get some things in August, namely a plastic chair, a printer, a side table and a small book shelf, which has brought me a little further along in my workstation set-up. I have an idea that the other improvements that I want ...

Bookish Ramblings # 3 - Book Reviewing

Hello Everyone, I've decided to go a little bit more into depth about my book blogging; and as you can see from the heading, this is the third post in the 'Bookish Ramblings' series.  I'll first start off by saying that I am very grateful that I have gotten this far. I really enjoy what I do on this book blog of mine, and I've got some plans in the works for this book blog. For now, this series will take place every two months, just until I am able to do this full time; since I will then have more time to dedicate to talking about one of my favourite topics: books.  For those who are regular readers of my blog, I'm glad you are stopping by once again; and for those who are new, welcome. I will give you a brief background on this book blog: This blog started in March 2016; and at this point in time, since I'll most likely have a new book blog website up hopefully soon, I'll be sharing more in depth details about the history of my book blog there...

Moving Forward...

Hello Everyone, I have been able to advance to the next stage of getting this book blog to where I'd like it to be. Now that I've gotten to a stage where I'd like this to be more than just a hobby, I've gotten the idea to open up a profile on Patreon. This is going to be for those who would like to or are able to support this blog in any way financially, with whatever amount they can afford. But I've also got an option for those who can't support every month, but will only be able to support financially every now and again. In this way, everyone who likes reading this book blog is included in being able to contribute financially. I appreciate every single person that comes to view or read my blog. And if you're able to support/contribute financially in any way, just know that I REALLY appreciate it! For those that read my last 'Week of Reading' blog post will know that I've been wanting to change my username across the social media pla...
